Seeking acceptance in the tribe

Hull stared. There was no-one around. But still, he thought he heard something as he stooped to take a longed-for drink.

"Who-who's there?" he spluttered as his keen sense of hearing made it clear that someone was walking up to him.

I, Yami was prowling my new territory. I was worried someone would try to overtake my land. Stories that had been passed down told about blood and power as one tried to overtake another. Images flashed through my head making me as scared as a pup without her mother. Every sound made me flinch, every twig jump. Soon, just as I was about to turn back to the comfort of camp my nose caught the unfamiliar sent of a brute. I knew I had no choice but to confront this newcomer and hope it was for the best. I burst through the bush and halted in front of him. My voice was almost as scared as his when I said, Wh-ho are you and what are you doing on m-my land

" Well I am looking for a tribe, and I stumbled upon this place so I thought I would check it out." He smiled and continued," I must remember my manners,I am Hull. Who might I have the pleasure of meeting?I mean no harm to anybody." He had been abused as a pup, and hoped to find a loving tribe, and friends. His tail was lowered between his legs automatically; it was a gesture of respect to authority.

Still a bit wary I answered with cation, You may call me Yami, your leader. You may stay if you wish, just let me ask you something. What do you have to offer Hull? I wanted to ask him a question. He did put his tail down in a sign of respect. I had to give him that, he seemed like a loyal member. I just had to be careful, you never know who can be lurking...

" I am a good hunter and tracker. I can smell prey from a mile off. I have had no tribe for a long time. But I am willing to give it a try." His eyes lit up at the prospect of having friends.
" Hmm..rabbit?" he muttered to himself. Suddenly he bounded off, a moment later returning with a rabbit in his jaws. Panting, he set it down at Yami's paws.
" Here is proof that I am a swift hunter. I hope that I could find some position in the tribe that requires someone like me"

Yes, he seemed good. A wonderful hunter, a loyal member, just what every tribe needed. Yes, you will be a great hunter. Eat up. I said as I pushed the rabbit towards him, You needed energy so I can show you your new tribe.

" Thanks." He began tearing the rabbit apart and then finished, gobbling it up quickly." Okay, where next?" He grinned, excited.

I smiled, To the camp. I didn't know what to show him first. Here's the main camp. I showed him all the places to hang, rest, and cool of. I showed him the prey pile where the leftover prey was set. Then I showed him more places. Like the caves and where he would sleep. There is Anar and Kingsley. Two other members. I nodded to them. I showed him the forest boundaries, and the places to swim, and drink. Basically I showed him everything there was to see. Everything. So how do you like the Larmono?

" It is very nice!" He smiled, a little tired, for the day was almost over and he had been out and about all day."So, where are we going tomorrow?" Without waiting for an answer, he fell asleep.

I laughed. Since he fell asleep and I was yawning, I went to my den and fell into a deep sleep.
